Summer Girl *

It’s been so long since we’ve talked. I’m sure you’ve noticed.
But life goes on whether we talk or not.

Whether I blog or not.
And right now life moves at a simple pace.
That doesn’t include writing.
It’s ok, I reassure myself. Because the writing will come again.
Just like it always does.
For now, the porch swing lulls my senses, the flowerbed dirt collects under my fingernails, the summer sun turns my skin a lovely brown, and I spend my days living.
I want to share all of this with you.
But there is not enough summer to go around and never will be for me.
Better to just live each sweaty afternoon, each balmy night, each cool morning.
And then when leaves begin their tell-tale yellowing, I will return to our conversations.
In earnest.
For now, I send a snippet here and there to let you know I am still a writer at heart.
That I still think of my readers far and wide.
And pray that you, like I, live these summer days (or whatever season you find yourself in) to the fullest.
